YES.COM What is YES? YES makes radio and TV interactive and social. On the homepage you see the 100 most popular songs as voted by the audience of the nation's top 2,600 Radio and virtually all Music TV Stations. Want to join in? You start by searching for a station either by name (e.g. "Hot 97" or "MTV"), frequency (e.g. "97.1") or call letters (e.g. "WQHT") or location (e.g. "New York" or "10001"). For all stations playing a certain artist, simply key in the artist's name and we show when and where that artist was played. If you're lucky there is a station playing a song from this artist right now. By the way stations that streamed are marked with a black whereas all others show it in grey. If your search produces several results you will get a page where you can tell us exactly what you are looking for (say the band Chicago or a station in the city of Chicago). Station Chats Once you have selected the station you see the Station Chat. So what can you do here? First you see the songs and, for the top markets, ads that have played in the past 7 days. In addition you can comment and vote on songs (or even ads if you want) using evoticons. If you love the song use the thumbs up button, otherwise the thumbs down button. Your votes influence the song's chart position for both the Station Charts as well as the National Top 100 that you see on our homepage. Yes.com has clarified that each person voting only has ONE thumbs up count per song per radio spin. - Every time a song is played, it gains one point. - EACH person giving ONE thumbs up to that song earns another point. - Every thumbs down SUBTRACTS one point for a song. So, in order to properly vote for Taylor's song, we need lots of voters to vote each time it has a spin on the different stations. You can check the playlists of a lot of stations to find out the next time it will be played. If you join in on the chat of a particular station, the "regulars" there will tell you about when to expect the song to be played. Pop in when his box comes up, and give one thumbs up, and then go about your day. |
