Apparently Taylor and friends are visiting the White House. This picture was tweeted by newmediajim...![]() Twitter profile identifies newmediajim as Jim Long, apparently a photographer who covers the White House. He first identified Taylor as that "second from the left American Idol dude." Then he tweeted Taylor's ning link showing "Grease" link and said this is why he is in Washington. He took the time to find out about Taylor! Thanks, Jim. Edited by san, Feb 14 2010, 11:05 AM.

I noticed something-when Season 5 AI folks visited the White House, Taylor was the only one who "dressed up" in respect for where he was-(taking nothing away from anyone else of course) by wearing a suit and tie- Now here he's got his shirt tucked in, etc-respect for the office-shows his upbringing-I respect that-shows class- Another reason I'm a member of the Soul Patrol! |

I always remember that, OBG. I am sure he is NOT meeting the President or he would have on a suit and tie for sure! He is very properly attired for just a visit. I also noticed that he does NOT have on jeans...more respect for the White House. That's our well-mannered, well-dressed Idol! Makes one proud! His firends are also well-attired. |

I agree about "dressing for success". I noticed that right away. No tshirts or jeans for these guys. Classy and respectful even for a White House Tour. Maybe this group got to see a few extra rooms because the are noted individuals ; maybe a few more doors were opened for them...... just maybe . One of the reasons we are fans !!!! |

God bless him, but he has the worst taste in ties, IMO, so it's good he eschewed the tie this time around. :-) San, thanks for finding this and sharing it. Twice in the White House under two different administrations. No party lines of demarcation for this boy. Good for him, and this is nice press, too!

Ah, Kat........... He actually met and spoke with Bush ( with a little help from Laura's Press Sec. , his past English teacher) , while he just took a tour of THE People's House this time. Taylor performed for the Bush Christmas Event, while I don't think Pres. Obama or his family have any idea that he or "Grease" are at the National Theatre. I would be delighted if I was proven wrong and the First Family either showed up ( can't and won't happen understandably ) or at least makes mention of their appearance. I thought maybe Robert Gibb might announce that the White House was blessed by the appearance of The Teen Angel at a press conference . Guess that won't happen either. Sartorially, I do think Taylor does better with his shirt , pants , jacket and tie selection than in the past. It is the boots that sometimes scream hiss or mating croak , when a nice pair of leather boots/shoes would suffice. I just love that he takes in local attractions while crossing the country in "Grease" ...........what a wonderful experience for him. |

Am I allowed to say that I've, uh, had to change my undies laughing so hard at your post? It's only because you're the only other person I know, other than me, who uses the word "satorial"/"satorially." I love it!!!!!!! ![]() I have a dear friend (Pam) who notices the boots and shoes as well as the sandals Taylor wore to greet his fans after the gig in Glen Allen, VA. (My grandfather also taught me to look down, to find money on the ground, but did I ever listen? No! ) Me, I look nowhere but at Taylor's eyes and facial expressions; also, his hands -- I love to watch him strum his guitars. I have to remind myself to actually focus on the other musicians also, as they are just too good not to.I think that if our President understood who has influenced Taylor's musical sensibilities from the git-go, and why, he'd welcome our boy with open arms as an honored guests. Roll out the red carpet, blow the trumpets, the whole nine yards. Oh. P.S. I knew about the prior White House experience. I read Taylor's book through 7 times and am half way through it now the 8th time (listened to it on audio 5 times). When 9/11 happened, my brain got re-wired. I was once an extremely avid reader: two, three books a week and often, several books simultaneously. After 9/11, I found it difficult to read a magazine article all the way through. Post 9/11, Taylor's book has been the only full-length work that I have been able to not only read but enjoy thoroughly: cry over, laugh, and be inspired by, time and again. Confession over. :-) |
